Justices take up Maryland parents’ challenge to LGBTQ books in schools

The Supreme Court will decide whether a group of Maryland parents can opt to have their children exempted from LGBTQ-themed storybooks. The justices on Friday afternoon granted Mahmoud v. Taylor, in which a coalition of parents from Montgomery County, Md., contend that requiring their children to participate in instruction that violates their religious beliefs violates their First Amendment right to freely exercise their religion.

E. coli O157:H7 outbreak reported among students and parents in St. Louis County

St. Louis County health officials are investigating an outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 infections among students and parents at a local high school.

The sick people from Rockwood Summit High School all attended an off-campus event, according to the St. Louis County Department of Health.

As of Nov. 14, there were 19 patients. Some of the patients have been laboratory confirmed but others are awaiting test results. The health department has not publicly reported what event the sick people attended.… Read the rest
