Nearly 200 sick in UK E. coli O157 outbreak

Public health officials in the United Kingdom are investigating an outbreak of E. coli O157 that has sickened almost 200 people in a month.

Since early September, 192 genetically linked cases of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) O157 have been identified in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

The majority of people sick are adults but there have been no deaths linked to the incident.

No source for the rise in infections has yet been identified.

FDA finds new Cyclospora outbreak; continues investigations on others

The FDA is investigating a new outbreak of dozens of infections caused by the Cyclospora parasite.

Little information has been released, but the Food and Drug Administration is reporting that 51 people have been confirmed infected. The agency has not released any specific information about the patients such as their ages or where they live.

Still no source found in Salmonella outbreak; other investigations ongoing at FDA

The number of patients confirmed in an outbreak of infections from Salmonella Braenderup has increased from 63 to 70 in the past week, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

The agency first posted the outbreak on June 22. As of July 21 the FDA has begun traceback efforts, but has not released what food or foods are being traced. Also, the FDA has not released any specific information about the patients such as their ages or where they live.… Read the rest

More patients identified in outbreak of Salmonella infections; other outbreaks still under investigation by the FDA

The FDA is continuing to investigate several outbreaks, including a Salmonella Braenderup outbreak which has seen a jump of 17 patients in the past week.

Officials have not yet been able to find the food source that is causing the infections, according to an update from the Food and Drug Administration. A week ago the patient count stood at 42. As of July 6 there are 59 people who have been confirmed with infections.

COVID-19 Outbreak on Norwegian Dawn – NCL Stays Mum

As of yesterday, there have been a minimum of around 120 guests who tested positive for COVID-19 aboard the Norwegian Dawn, according to a trusted, long-term reader of Cruise Law News on the ship who wishes to remain anonymous.
