SEC Updates Guidance to Facilitate Broker-Dealer Involvement in Crypto

The SEC Division of Trading and Markets​​​​​​ (the Division) updated FAQs clarifying broker-dealer obligations and regulatory considerations for crypto asset activities and distributed ledger technology. The Division and FINRA’s Office of General Counsel also withdrew a 2019 Joint Statement regarding broker-dealer custody of digital asset securities.

Judicial Branch Updates FY 2024 Funding Request, But Remains Concerned About Budget Shortfall

The Judicial Branch updated its FY 2024 funding request to Congress by nearly $ 184 million as part of the regular budget process. But it continued to voice concerns about proposed appropriation levels that are too low to preserve federal courts’ ability “to administer justice effectively and efficiently.”

U.S.- Immigration agency updates guidelines for officials’ treatment of Red Notices (part 2 of 3)

On September 29, 2023, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued new agency-wide guidelines regarding how its employees will address cases in which Red Notices and Diffusions.
